Have recently purchased a harley davidson sporter 1200c 2001 model. In 5th gear it doesn''t run so well. Feels like fuel starvation but is ok in all other gears?

There is some very slight leakage from cyclinder nearest front of bike is that normal? I rode 100 or so miles on it yesterday, doesn''t look anything major but there are some grease/fuel deposits on the front...

RPM not indicated but approx 70mph so engine wasn't labouring.

No idea when the carb was last cleaned, as I say only purchased recently 2nd hand.

No idea on plugs but will pull them to check in case black (over rich)

97 Octane Super unleaded

Yes to the filter

Unsure re Push rods, thought they were on early Sportster models, not sure on 2001

Slight leak emanates from head & cylinder, is black on finger (there's only a small amount not loads.

Doesn't appear to be using excessive fuel

No to the compression tester

Hope this helps
