Gentlemen - I've dropped of to a local Harley

Sent to Motorcycle Experts May 12 12:42 a.m.

Gentlemen - I've dropped of to a local Harley Dealership yesterday, May 10th both my Fuel Injected '96 Road King with +/- 11,000 miles and my '97 Heritage, also with +/-11,000 mile - for their "10,000 Mile Service". The Dealer says: Wheel Bearings for both machines ought to be replaced (front and rears) along with that Service - and the cost for each motorcycle will be $1,200. Both machines run flawlessly, don't make wheel/bearing noises, etc. I think I'm getting "hosed", as the Canadians like to say ... Depending on what you Gents say, I'm likely going down there in the early a.m. on May 12th and take both motorcycles outta there: I don't any longer feel gut-good about this dealer and his Service people. ACCEPTED Check Mark

Hi,

While I do not work for a HD franchised dealer. I do know that the price for service is very steep. A friend of mine had his break in service done and it cost him $357.00 basically to check it over and change the oil.

With that in mind $1200 is probably thier normal fee and not out of the norm for any other customer needing the same thing.

In my book wheel bearings and a service are no where near that price and neither is the labor. Now keep in mind I'm not a HD franchise. I would charge more in the range of $450 plus parts.

If you want to play you have to pay as they say.
It's your call.

Good Luck
