My Honda 1980 cb750c with only 9000 miles

My Honda 1980 cb750c with only 9000 miles recently started having a problem. It runs fine at low idle but at about 5500 rpm it starts to skip and miss. When I bring it down below that rpm it runs as usual. I visually checked the centrifigual advance and it seems fine. What else should I check? A friend said it might be the cdi ignitor.

I have seen the ignitors go yes... but first I would install all new spark plug caps.. each one has a resistor built in to it.. these can fail at any time especially if some corrosion builds up in them from sitting for a long time ... this would be the easiest thing to check and try before the ignitors ...
