I have a 1997 kawasaki bayou 220 atv,it will only start ...

I have a 1997 kawasaki bayou 220 atv,it will only start using starting fluid, once running it runs great, it will start again only if warmed up.choke is working,it will not start if the engine is cold. do the valves need adjusted?

FRESH GAS,NEW SPARK PLUG,CLEANED CARB,AIR FILTER

Yes the first thing I would do is adjust the valves... these are noted for the valves " tunneling " in to the head... IE they seat in and go tight ...most times they will need new valves if there is a lot of mileage on the bike...the valves become worn down to almost a sharp edge and need to have the seats re done as well... a compression test will tell you too if there is a issue with them
